We often asked by customers why
our DVR system images are more
clear and crisp compared to
others?
Questions to ask before you
buy, or say bye.
Key factors that contributes to
the quality of images taken and
recorded to DVR are:
1.
Camera Resolution; Most
security companies tend to
omit the specification of the
cameras they are trying to sell
you.
This is one of the important specs to consider when purchasing a security camera
it could make the difference in identifying a person committing a crime
by having the highest resolution.
The more lines of resolution the higher the definition of the picture.
Indicated by the number of horizontal TV lines that make up a
picture each individual horizontal TV line is made of a number of pixels and the total number of these lines makes up the full picture you see on your screen.
What resolution is available in
the market for security color
cameras?
-800 TV lines 3 CCD
camera
-600 TV lines Television
Broadcast
-550 TV lines Newer 2005
models.
-470/480 TV lines " High
Resolution"
-420 TV lines " Medium
Resolution"
-380 TV lines "Standard
Resolution"
-330 TV lines "as seen in
toys and hobby cam"
- 100TV lines "as seen in web
cam"
When choosing security cameras and security camera systems you must consider the resolution of each individual component comprising your security camera system so you can select components with similar resolution.
Now you know what cameras are
available out there, would you use
a camera that is intended for toys
or web cam for your valuable
property?

2. Recording
Resolution of your
recorder;
Many advertise on the Internet and are operated out of homes, basements and
garages, While these companies may hold themselves out to be security specialists - beware - few deliver quality video recording or reliable
equipment. Most recorder/DVR sold
online has a very poor recording
resolution (click
here to see sample of low quality
recorder). At the International Security
Conference in Las Vegas our company attended there were hundreds of exhibitor booths with DVR's on
display, most of which were unable to provide a live demonstration of their equipment or show the features listed in their sales brochures without experiencing significant problems.
A true DVR, meant for security surveillance and mission critical applications, is a sophisticated system composed of specialized hardware, software and sub-assemblies with built-in checks and balances. It all must work in unison to create a robust and reliable piece of equipment.
Separating the quality from junk can be a daunting
task for first time buyer of DVR's. Often entry-level products will conveniently
not to mention or fail to mention the things that their system will not do .
What most marketing people say
about you? the less you know the
easiest for them to sell you.
Before you buy a DVR ask what
is the recording resolution for each
camera port on the DVR.
Compare
them with Seattle DVRs' recording
resolution (see
sample of HIGH quality recorder
here) then play this low
quality recorder again to see
for your self. View it in
full screen and see the
difference.
• Recording Resolution:
Don't confuse it with Viewing
(live) Resolution.
-800x600 "
mission critical application
-720x480 "Highest
resolution for
commercial
"
-720x240 "Mid
Resolution
"
-640x480 " State
Gaming (casino) Commissions
Standard"
-320x240
" Standard Resolution" -
as seen in most DVR
-160x120 " Low
Resolution" - storage savior.
-80x60
" web cam resolution"
Lets say you purchase a high resolution color security camera that has 480 lines resolution , a monitor with
600 line resolution (like your TV) and a time lapse security recorder
or DVR with 320 line resolution. The end result will be a picture that looks great on the monitor when you are viewing it live but not so great when you playback anything that has been recorded. Why was the quality of the playback picture so poor when it looked so good live? Well, your live picture was clear because the monitor had
600 line resolution which surpassed the 480 line resolution that the security camera was putting out, so there will be no loss in resolution on live picture. However the recorder that was purchased was only
320 line resolution causing all of your recording to be done at
320 line resolution instead of 480 line security camera resolution. As you can see the camera resolution is not the only factor that determines the resolution you will get as the end result.
